Yoga and Tai Chi Classes at Library

Registration Open for Yoga and Tai Chi Fall Classes

Fall sessions of Tai Chi and Yoga classes will begin soon at the South Brunswick Public Library, 110 Kingston Lane, Monmouth Jct., NJ 08852. In-person registration required.

Tai Chi Classes for Beginners and Intermediates: Beginners: Tuesdays at 7 p.m. Sept. 16 - Oct. 21. A new session begins Oct. 28. Intermediates: Wednesdays at 7 p.m. Sept. 15 – Oct. 20. A new session begins Oct. 27.Ellen Gambatese Room. All Tai Chi classes are taught by local instructor Jimmy Lee. Cost of a six-week session is $60. Payment is due at in-person registration at the Information Desk. Checks and money orders made payable to “The Friends of the South Brunswick Library” will be accepted. No cash please. Payment for these classes is a fundraiser for the Friends of the Library who sponsor programming for adults, teens and children here at the library.
Beginner and Mixed Level Yoga Classes (Ages 14 & Up): Thursdays, Sept. 10, 17, 24; Oct. 1. A new session begins Oct. 8. (Now both Beginner and Mixed Level Classes are on Thursdays), Meeting Room A/B. Beginner Class at 6 p.m. – This class is for new beginners, people who haven’t practiced in a while, and those wishing to move through postures at a slower pace. Class includes step-by-step explanations of basic yoga poses, introduction to pranayama (breath work), deep relaxation (savasana), and foundational yoga philosophy and teachings.Mixed Level Class at 7:30 p.m. - This class is appropriate for all levels of yoga experience, except for brand new beginners. Must be familiar with Sun Salutations. Includes: asana alignment, vinyasa flow, pranayama, meditation, deep relaxation, and basic yoga philosophy.
Dress in comfortable clothes for all classes. Bring a large towel and a yoga “sticky” mat. A light jacket is recommended as the room is cool. In-person registration is required at the Information Desk. The cost of a four-class session is $44, payable at registration. Make checks to “Friends of the SB Library.” No cash. No refunds. Fee benefits the Friends of the Library. The Friends support library programs for all ages. For information, call 732-329-4000, ext. 7286.
