Auditions Opened for the 1st Annual MAPSO Family Follies - Old Times
A panel of local luminaries has been assembled to judge - all auditions are open to surrounding communities–Join us Oct 18th & 19th 6-8pm.
“Waiting for Guffman” meets “Gong Show” meets “Stupid Human Tricks” is co-producer, ToriChickering’s hope for the first MAPSO Family Follies Talent Show, November 16 th at 7:30pm, at The Woodland. “It’s not a contest,” Chickering decided together with event creator and co-producer, Lara Tomlin. “It’s a low-stakes opportunity for talented folks to try something wacky they wouldn’t ordinarily get a chance to do.” Clogging to your neighbor playing “I Will Survive” on the bassoon? Awesome. Step dancing to original spoken word? Go for it.
“Nearly anything goes,” added Sally Unsworth, Division of Arts & Culture, “but there are a few rules for auditioners.” You must be at least 9 years old. No solos. Acoustic acts only. Hard three-minute limit. No spiders and/or snakes.A panel of local luminaries has been assembled to judge auditions–open to surrounding communities–October 18th & 19th from 6-8pm, The Woodland.
They’ll choose the 15 most entertaining acts—those with multiple generations will have an advantage. “So, grab your neighbors and grandparents. The more on stage, the merrier,” says Chickering, who’s been producing/directing and emceeing follies-type shows “forever.”

“Dust off those bird calls, tap shoes, and marching band batons. Let’s see how unpredictable we can get.”
