Benefits of Mindfulness in the Classroom
Mindfulness in the classroom can lead to an increase in learning and academic performance.

Getting the most productivity out of a student in the classroom all comes back to their level of focus and attention. A child can be very intelligent, but if they lack focus, their academic performance will never reflect that. Estimates have shown that the average attention span has dropped from 12 seconds to eight seconds. A child getting distracted every eight seconds in the classroom can more than likely lead to poor learning. Mindfulness, however, can lead to an increase in focus, attention, and even working memory.
Mindfulness is a psychological state of awareness in which an individual is focused on the present moment. Although it may not be easy, encouraging mindfulness among students can keep them focused on the present, which can lead to other benefits. Some of these benefits include an increase in concentration and an increase in the ability to focus and suppress distracting information. It also leads to a boost in working memory, which is very beneficial to learning. Most importantly, mindfulness can lead to an increase in academic performance, and an overall happier life.
