Update: Berkeley Ave. Car Accident was in Orange

According to police communications, two people were injured early Thursday when a vehicle struck a tree on Berkeley Avenue on the Orange side of the border.

The accident happened shortly before 1 a.m., and South Orange police and the South Orange Rescue Squad responded to the scene of the accident, according to Police Chief Jim Chelel.

A passenger was reported to have severe leg and other injuries. The driver was being treated for moderate injuries. Their names were not immediately available.

Both were taken to UMDNJ Trauma Center, according to police communications.
