Breaking News: Smoke, But No Fire at South Mountain School
Compressor problem not expected to affect start of classes this morning
South Orange firefighters responded to the South Mountain School about 3:30 this morning on a report of smoke in the school auditorium.
But the problem turned out to be a burned-out belt in a compressor that was generating smoke that the school's heating and air conditioning system was carrying throughout the building.
Firefighters vented the building with fans.
