British Invasion Arrives at Stony's
The South Orange eatery welcomes artists of British background
The British arrive at Stony's on Thursday, January 5, with a free wine and cheese artist reception from 6:30 - 8:30, open to the public. The latest art installation at the local eatery is entitled "The British Invasion," and it will be on display until February 15.
Nancy Heins-Glaser explains. "For the last year and a half, proprietors Stony and Laura Johnson (Stony's on Sloan), have allowed Art Hoc INC (AHI) to exhibit selected work by artists from South Orange- Maplewood (and beyond) to the delight of families, youngsters and SHU students alike."
She notes that, "Art works during the past year have ranged from abstract to representational art – people to planes – paintings to encaustics by artists living as far away as San Francisco and New Hampshire to right around the block in 'the neighborhood.'" The project was begun, says Heins-Glaser, by the Pierro Gallery, "and thankfully this has continued on – and on – and on"

Today's reception is, she says, "a chance to delight in our arts/artists, support this fine establishment, and blast off into the new year." However, she adds, If you can’t join us, stop in, take a look and make sure that works by locals (and not so locals) will continue to delight diners for some time to come."
