Broadcasting Executive George J. Miles Jr. Among Those Honored at Seton Hall University's Many Are One Gala

New Jersey native George L. Miles Jr. (’63), Chairman Emeritus of the Chester Group and former president and CEO of WQED Multimedia, was among the Seton Hall University alumni to be honored at the 2015 “Many Are One” Alumni Awards Gala on Friday, June 12 at the Hanover Marriott in Whippany, NJ. Miles was presented with the Most Distinguished Alumnus Award, which is the most prestigious alumni award given by the University to an individual who has been recognized as an outstanding leader in his or her professional field. The black tie event was emceed by 1010 WINS news reporter and anchor Glenn Schuck, who began his radio career in 1981 at Seton Hall University.

The Many Are One alumni awards gala provides an opportunity to celebrate the ways in which the University’s alumni have positively influenced our world. Proceeds raised from the gala support four-year scholarships for children, grandchildren and siblings of alumni who attend Seton Hall; each selected student receives $36,000 in scholarship funds.

Other honorees:

Ingrid Johnson (’03, M.S.N. ’07), Manager of Patient Access and Bed Management at Overlook Medical Center, received the Humanitarian Award for her passionate dedication and commitment to helping survivors of domestic human trafficking, specifically with the Newark and New Jersey Coalitions Against Human Trafficking and the Covenant House in Newark. This award embodies Seton Hall’s mission of servant leadership.

The Alumni Impact Award was given to Philip Sanford (‘05), Service Support Specialist of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) Center of Excellence at ADP. This award is presented to an alumnus or alumna whose extraordinary contributions of time, talent or treasure have greatly advanced the mission of the University. Sanford’s philanthropic works include working on the award-winning fundraiser “Get Your Rear in Gear” for the Colon Cancer Coalition, building multiple homes through Habitat for Humanity and participating in the American Heart Association Heart Walk in Charlotte.
