Bunny's is March Madness headquarters

Owner Leslie Pogany talks about new specials

As the “Final Four” teams remaining in the NCAA College Basketball Tournament continue to play for the title, Bunny’s Sports Bar on South Orange Avenue will likewise continue March Madness festivities and drink specials. The coming weekend promises to be exciting for local fans.

Bunny’s owner and manager Leslie Pogany said that with the addition of 18 flat screen TVs as part of Bunny’s recently completed renovations, the sports bar is March Madness headquarters.

“It’s a very exciting time of the year,” Pogany said. “It’s a big time for us – what with the renovations being finished just in time for March Madness.”

One of the new perks of Bunny’s is what Pogany calls the “video wall” – four TVs, all set up on the same wall, all of which will show different games during the Tournament.

“So you don’t have to miss anything,” she said.

Pogany said the atmosphere at Bunny’s during March Madness is a spirited one.

“We’ll root for any Big East team,” she said. “Of course, we wanted Seton Hall to go all the way, but we just want a Big East team to win. Anybody but Michigan!” she added. “Never root for Michigan.”

Bunny’s will also feature college basketball specials throughout the remainder of March, including a pitcher of beer and large pizza for $8, $5 cosmos, “Beast of the East” cocktails, and specials during the games, such as shots for three-point shots.

Pogany said she also decided to open the bar for lunch, something she had not done before the renovations were completed. If the lunches are popular enough, Pogany said she will consider keeping Bunny’s open for lunch year-round.

“We’ve got something exciting for anyone, young and old, this month,” she said. “Everyone has someone to root for.”

When asked what it was she liked about March Madness, Pogany said, “College basketball is exciting because these kids play with all their heart. They’re still learning, so they make mistakes. But they’re more real than any NBA game.”
