Columbia High School Drama Students Perform The Last Cyclist

Performances are Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. in the Black Box

Students in Stacey Lawrence's Senior Level Fourth Period Drama class will perform The Last Cyclist on Friday and Saturday, March 23 and 24, at 7 p.m. in the Black Box.

"Written by Karel Svenk, a prisoner in the Terezin Concentration Camp, the play was rehearsed within the walls of this camp and has survived all of these years," explains Lawrence. "It has been recently adapted by Naomi Patz and Columbia High School is one of the few full scale productions ever being performed."

This play is a pilot for an advanced drama class being offered to seniors next year, notes Lawrence. She adds, "Although of a serious nature, the play is appropriate for children ages 10 and up. It is an allegory for what happened to Jews and others during the Holocaust."
