Dancing Downtown After Sundown

Residents of all ages and dancing styles took to the streets for weekend music

As warm day turned to cool night, South Orange took to the streets (well, technically the sidewalks) at Downtown after Sundown concerts on Friday.

The concert in Spiotta Park, which was sponsored by Papillon 25, featured Stuff Brothers,  an instrumental rhythm and blues band.

On Sloan Street, a concert sponsored by our very own South Orange Patch featured Tricia Woods, a local jazz/blues band.

Taking advantage of one of the first cool nights in a long time, residents gathered at both venues to onlook, eat dinner and ice cream and dance, with the youngest of our community members taking up the dance floor in the largest numbers.

The concerts tonight were part of the Downtown After Sundown series, which brings locals and those from other communties town town. Talking with some residents of other towns, this writer agreed that South Orange was at its best on Friday, with music, dance, dining giving downtown the feel of a community-wide block party. The best part: Downtown after Sundown is but one of various community-focused events that take place in our downtown throughout the week.

Visit the town's website at www.southorange.org to find more upcoming events and information.
