On September 26th the Live Music Community Came Together with friends, family and fellow musicians to celebrate the life of local West Orange resident Bass Man Darryl Clark whom we lost in November 2020. Folks came from as far as Massachusetts, New York and more to express their sentiments. Folks who could not make this event in person, joined in and viewed the livestream from New York, Florida, California and more.

We had tried to do this event in July but 2nd times a charm as a perfect weather day and the community came together for the 5th Annual 24 Hours Of Music Jamboree Sunday that celebrated the life of bass player, father and community member.

Darryl became a fixture on the live music scene as Darryl has performed with us in numerous live music events in and around South Orange NJ throughout his performance career. Always friendly, always helpful, Darryl jammed with us, produced some truly swinging performances and enjoyed playing bass all over the area.

The 24 Hours Of Music Jamboree is normally a non stop 24 Hours Of Music Jamboree that started in 2017 that Darryl would perform in with his band DC Fusion. This festival of live music running nonstop noon Saturday to noon Sunday for 24 hours. Due to the pandemic we moved the 4th 24 Hours Of Music Jamboree in 2020 to be a total online event. For 2021 we went to a hybrid model. Saturday, was a day of live performances, overnight Saturday into Sunday was a series of online performances and we dedicated Sunday as a full day of live music events in Tribute to Darryl Clark.

5th Annual 24 Hours Of Music Jamboree

The following is a recap of a day of tribute performances to Darryl Clark during the 5th Annual 24 Hours Of Music Jamboree.

Sept 26th. It was a beautiful day, the weather was great as we recreated a number of environments that Darryl had previously performed in.

• The South Orange Farmers Market led by Peter Lin where Darryl Clark jammed in numerous times with us in the South Orange Gazebo.
• His band DC Fusion Band which led Jazzy Nights in South Orange . He played with his former band members on being Howard Hall who led this events performance.
• And when he played with Nat Adderley, Jr, who was one of his biggest supporters of Darryl Clark as the played all around South Orange and beyond.
• We also livestreamed overnight, so we had selected performances by various artist, many whom were big time Darryl Clark supporters,

A big thank you to Peter Lin Trio -Jazz in Spiotta Park South Orange Darryl Clark Tribute with Gordon Kuba on Drums and Billy Smolen on Bass, led by Peter Lin on Trombone for leading off the day. 2 of the 24 Hours of Music Jamboree Tribute to Darryl Clark. Scheduled to be in the Gazebo where we normally performed, however web learned the night before that the Essex County turned it into a voting booth. We moved this event to Spiotta Park. It was a perfect and fitting tribute of live music for our buddy Bass man Darryl Clark.

Thank you to DC Fusion Jazz in Spiotta Park South Orange Darryl Clark Tribute. This session led by the Howard Hall Quartet in celebration of DC Fusion Band Rides again in day 2 of the 24 Hours Of Music Jamboree. We were happy that DC Fusion rode one more time with Coo Moe Jhee on Bass in honor of Darryl. DC fusions sax man, Alex De Lazzari and filling in with Errold Lanier Jr. on Drums. This band was led by DC Fusions longtime keyboardist Howard Hall on keys. Thank you all for replaying the tunes he loved and for recreating The Fox & Falcon Jazzy Nights scene by calling up the folks he loved to play with as they came thru. Just fabulous. live music all day on a beautiful day.
