Essex County: Police Recover Carjacked Vehicles and Make Arrests

Cars were stolen from Maplewood, Newark

Essex County Sheriff’s officers arrested an adult male and three male juveniles on Monday, recovering two allegedly carjacked vehicles in the process.

According to a release, Patrol Division officers made the arrests as they were conducting “quality of life” operations in the area of South 16th Street in Newark.

“During the operation, our officers observed a 2013 Kia Optima with four occupants parked at that location,” Sheriff Armando Fontoura stated in a release. “The vehicle was reported carjacked in the city earlier in the day.”
