Essex County Woman Arrested For DWI: Had Only One Boot On, Police Say
The East Orange woman allegedly tested at twice the legal alcohol limit after she drove through a safety zone, police said.

An Essex County woman allegedly drove her 2013 Nissan through a safety zone on Route 1 & 9 on Sunday, “stumbling” out of the car with only one boot on when stopped by police, authorities stated.
According to a release from the Port Authority of NY/NJ, the incident took place around 1:30 a.m., as Kimberly D. Fleming, 33, of East Orange, drove “slowly through a safety zone” on Route 1 & 9 northbound.
A Port Authority police officer reportedly made several attempts to stop Fleming without success, but eventually managed to block her path with a police vehicle, authorities stated.

When the officer interviewed Fleming, he allegedly noticed that she had a “strong odor of alcohol about her as well as tearing and bloodshot eyes. The officer stated that when Fleming stepped out of her car she “stumbled” and was wearing only one boot.
Fleming allegedly failed a field sobriety test and breathalyzer test, and was charged with driving while intoxicated.
