This two hour course will introduce participants to a psychoanalytic and health psychology perspective of the interplay between physical and mental health with a particular emphasis on humor and its value in treatment. Modern Psychoanalytic intervention strategies for building resilience in the face of serious medical crises, chronic illness or injury, and pain management will be explored.
- Recognize the relationship between humor, stress, resiliency and physical/emotional health.
- Recall at least a real life example of how employing humor enabled progressive communication, in either a clinical setting or in their lives.
- Identify intervention strategies employing humor, and learn to utilize them in your practice or in everyday life.
