Families with young children are invited to join a free South Mountain Conservancy hike to Turtle Back Rock on July 2nd at 9:30am. No need to register; just come to the meeting point a little before the starting time. Steady rain automatically cancels a walk, intermittent showers do not.
A walk good for families with children 3 to 6 in particular, but all may come. We will visit the famous, unique rock with the markings of a turtle’s back on it and hear the Lenape Indian story of how the world was created there on the back of a turtle. Meet at the Turtle Back Rock picnic area (not the zoo). Pass the zoo going east on Northfield Ave. in West Orange and turn right at the 2nd traffic light onto Walker Ave. Drive only 0.2 miles to the entrance on the right and go to the parking lot in about 0.1 of a mile. Leader: Dave Hogenauer - cell on day of hike only 973-901-0824.
For information before the day of the hike, leave a message at (866) 845-8308, ext 1 and the hike leader will get back to you.
