The Newark History Society’s next program, “Newark’s Chinatown: The Mulberry Street Neighborhood” will take place on Monday, March 21 at 6:00 at the New Jersey Historical Society, 52 Park Place, in Newark.
Rob Steinbaum, publisher of the New Jersey Law Journal, has organized this program and will moderate the discussion. Ronald Chen, vice dean of the Rutgers Law School and former NJ Public Advocate, will provide an overview of the Chinese immigration to America. Gladys Eng Chin, Frank Eng, and Dr. Harold Li Sooey — all residents at one time -- will then discuss Newark’s Chinatown, which was focused on Mulberry Street, between Lafayette and Green Streets.
This should be a splendid program, and we hope you will join us. The Overseas Chinese Association (OCA) -- NJ Chapter is co-sponsoring the program and arranging Chinese food for our light refreshments.
