The Baird invites the community to an Open House on Saturday September 10th 2011 from 12-4pm. This event will provide an opportunity for the public to learn more about what Ms. Martiny has in mind. Potential students can jump right in and take a mini sample class, watch a demonstration or visit an exhibition of student work. Participating teachers include, among others: Larry McKim, one of the Baird’s favorite veteran teachers, who will demonstrate silk screen printing (high school and up). Potential students will be encouraged to get their hands dirty printing one of their own t-shirts. John Brophy will be on hand to introduce his new advanced guitar class (7th grade and up). Dancer Elaine D'Addezio will exhibit images of her delightful introductory ballet classes for the youngest dancers, and new comer Andy Weeks will talk about Approaching Landscape, a contemporary landscape painting class for adults. Long time Baird instructor, Steve Safran, will be on hand for children and adults to sample a Tae Kwon Do session.
