Prof. John Davis of the University of Connecticut will discuss his book "The Jews of San Nicandro". This lecture will explore the reasons why a group of poor southern Italians decided to convert to the Jewish faith in the early 1930's. Their story began during the years of Fascism ans was played out against the backdrop of the Second World War, the diaspora of European Jews and the founding of the State of Israel where the converts finally settled.
