FAMILYConnections Plans National Recovery Month Event

Announcement

September has been designated by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) as National Recovery Month, a time to remind Americans that people can recover from mental and substance use disorders to achieve healthy and rewarding lives. To celebrate this positive message, Family Connections is organizing Connect to Wellness, an outdoor family wellness festival at the Clipper Pavilion, South Mountain Reservation, West Orange, Sunday, September, 24th from 1-5 pm. Attendees to this fun family event will take part in a series of free “healthy” activities for all ages including yoga, Zumba, meditation and more. Activities for kids will include arts and crafts, face painting, an obstacle course and snacks. The event will offer giveaways and prizes.

“FAMILYConnections has been providing effective treatment for successful recovery for decades,” says Jacques Hryshko, FAMILYConnections’ Executive Director. “Mental and substance use disorders impact millions of Americans. It’s important to share the positive message of National Recovery Month – that recovery is possible with the help of family, friends and community. Connect to Wellness will help raise awareness while giving families a chance to learn what they can do to live strong, healthy and happy lives – all in a beautiful park setting. We invite everyone to join this celebration.”

Registration is not required for this free event. The rain date is: Sunday, October 1st from 1 – 5pm. For further information, please contact Nancy Wellbrock at nwellbrock@familyconnectionsnj.org or (973) 323-3412.
