Guitarist Vocalist Jeanne Ricks Brings Soulful Jazz to Clement's Place, Newark

Join us for an intimate evening with guitarist vocalist Jeanne Ricks, whose soulful voice and expressive delivery create a warm and captivating musical experience.

Wednesday, November 18, 7:30-10:00 PM — Rutgers IJS & Greg Burrus Presents Guitarist Vocalist Jeanne Ricks, Clement's Place Jazz, 15 Washington Street, Newark

Jeanne Ricks, known professionally as Ricksomusic, is a singer-songwriter, guitarist, and producer whose work blends blues, funk, soul, and jazz into a signature style that is both groove-driven and emotionally rich. A Chicago native with deep roots in the New York and New Jersey music scene, she is a Berklee College of Music graduate in film scoring who has composed for the Francis Ford Coppola film "Assassination Tango" and for The Weather Channel's "Local on the 8's" for 12 years.

As a songwriter, George Benson selected her "Love Remembers" as the title track of his Warner CD, and Chaka Khan recorded her "Don't Ask Me." Her solo CD "Listening Room" featured Branford Marsalis and Lisa Fischer, and her latest project, "Reinvention," showcases her guitar chops and vocal prowess. Described as a singer with a "smoky soulfulness," Ricks is also the creator and artistic director of Sketches of Music, a multimedia platform that merges live performance, visual art, and narrative.

Expect soulful jazz vocals, heartfelt storytelling, and expressive artistry to the stage — a night of music that is as much about listening as it is about feeling it.
