Investigators Use DNA Analysis to Identify Body of Irvington House Fire Victim

Utilizing DNA evidence, investigators at the Essex County Prosecutors Office identified the victim of a fatal house fire that took place at a three-story wood frame home in Irvington on Feb. 28.

In a release, authorities identified the victim as 48-year-old Pierre Auguste.

According to the release, investigators identified Auguste’s body – previously described as “badly burned” - through DNA analysis.

The house was previously believed to be abandoned, stated a prior release.
