Ivy Hill Park Gets Facelift from Essex County

The park closely borders South Orange and Maplewood.

Improvements at a Newark park that borders South Orange and Maplewood were officially completed last week and celebrated with a ceremony featuring Essex County Executive Joseph N. DiVincenzo, Jr.

DiVincenzo helped 4-year-old Salma Holloway cut the ceremonial ribbon at Essex County Ivy Hill Park on Thursday, August 26, 2010, to commemorate the completion of a two-phase $1.6 million facelift that included the installation of a synthetic surface baseball/softball field, the renovation of two restroom buildings and upgrades to enhance pathways and landscaping.

The park is located next to the Ivy Hill Park Apartments and directly borders Seton Hall University in South Orange. Maplewood is just a block to the south of the park on the other side of Irvington Avenue.
