Kitchen Fire in Off-Campus Student Housing

South Orange firefighters responded to 384 Turrell Ave. shortly before 11 p.m. on Sunday to put out a kitchen fire in a Seton Hall student-rented apartment.

According to Fire Chief Jeffrey Markey, the fire was contained to the stove, which sustained substantial damage. There was a heavy smoke condition in the apartment. The stove was subsequently disconnected, and Seton Hall was notified.
