Man Arrested in Newstead Burglary Also Charged in Millburn

James Clark, 38, of Newark, has been charged in two Millburn burglaries.

The man charged with burglarizing a Newstead home on Sunday has allegedly been on a crime spree in the area.

James Clark, 38, of Newark, was charged with two counts of burglary, two counts of fraudulent use of credit cards, two counts of forgery, two counts of impersonation and identity theft, credit card theft, theft of movable property and receiving stolen property in Millburn.

A former Short Hills resident, Clark is accused of entering a motor vehicle on July 16 on Hemlock Road. Millburn police reported that an iPod and a wallet were taken from the vehicle. He's also charged with entering a home on Colonial Way on July 18. Millburn police reported two laptops were missing after that incident.

Clark was taken into custody on Sunday night in South Orangeafter a Crest Circle resident called 911 to report a burglary in progress. South Orange police reported that Clark had been recently released after spending more than 10 years in state prison for crimes committed in South Orange, Maplewood, Millburn, West Orange and Summit.

Millburn police said the investigative efforts by Millburn, South Orange and Maplewood police resulted in the Millburn charges against Clark.

Clark is being held at the Essex County Jail, and the investigation is ongoing.
