Newark Man Robbed On The Job In South Orange: Police
A Newark resident was robbed and assaulted while doing maintenance work at a home in South Orange, authorities said.

SOUTH ORANGE, NJ — A Newark resident was robbed and assaulted while doing maintenance work at a home in South Orange last month, authorities said.
According to the South Orange Police Department, the victim, a Newark resident, told officers that around 11:10 a.m. on April 19, a man assaulted and attempted to rob him as he was doing maintenance work to a house on Finlay Place.
The alleged robber asked the victim if he had any money, then grabbed him, struck him on the head and pushed him to the ground. The man then tried to steal the victim’s cell phone but fled the scene empty-handed after a brief struggle and ran east into Newark. Police searched the area but were unable to locate him, authorities said.

The victim described his assailant as a black male with a slim build, from 6 feet 1 inch to 6 feet 3 inches, about 20 to 30-years-old, and wearing a brown-hooded jacket and blue jeans.
South Orange police are investigating the incident, authorities said.
