Ophthalmologists Uprooted by Irvington Ave. Fire Continue Practice

Drs. Kenneth and Philip Miller are practicing out of offices in Millburn and West Orange.

The ophthalmologists whose offices were severely damaged in last week's fire on Irvington Avenue are temporarily practicing out of medical offices in Millburn and West Orange but are looking at moving into a temporary space in South Orange by May 1.

Dr. Kenneth Miller—who runs the practice, Laser Vision Correction Center of New Jersey, with his father, Philip Miller—said they haven't missed a day of patient care since the fire at 211 Irvington Ave. on Tuesday, April 14. Their schedule is still five or six days a week, and they're also using the St. Barnabas Ambulatory Care Center in Livingston.

"We are still not sure of the plan for 211 Irvington Ave., but we would like to be back in that office if possible," said Kenneth Miller, in an e-mail. "My father started his practice in this building in 1967."
