Parent Academy at South Orange Middle School
Workshops are being offered to parents of SOMS students.

On Tuesday, October 18, from 7 p.m. - 9 p.m., South Orange Middle School will be hosting their first Parent Academy. The Parent Academy is part of an ongoing effort to strengthen the school’s relationship with parents, and to create a total “community of learners”, in which all stakeholders –students, staff, and the community—are engaged in ongoing learning to ensure success for our children in high school and beyond. It is an opportunity for parents to come into our classrooms and participate in workshops relevant to them. No registration is required. Among the workshops that will be offered:
- Survival tips for successfully parenting a healthy and happy young adolescent.
- Using technology to effectively support and enrich your child in math (at no cost).
- Fostering success and a love for the arts and music in your child.
- An introduction to New Jersey’s anti-bullying statute.
- Promoting cyber-safety in your home in the 21st century.
Parents can visit the SOMS Home School Association website for more information.
