South Orange's downtown was transformed on Saturday into a giant festival with artists and musicians, food and games for children. Celebrate South Orange began under gray skies, but an early visit while vendors and community groups put the finishing touches on their tents found the community ready to celebrate all that South Orange offers.
Attendees could see artist Frank O'Leary finding inspiration and creating art to be auctioned later in the day. There was live music, dance and special performances on the main stage in the Sloan Street lot. The Pierro Gallery was asking, "What do you love about South Orange?" and creating an on-site installation of photos. Retail shop owners were running special promotions. Kids were bouncing in a giant kids' zone.
