2010 CHS graduates celebrated all night long in an alcohol-free environment.
Graduation is over. Thursday night was the time to grab a yearbook, pen and maybe a sweatshirt and head back to Columbia High School for a night of fun and friendship in a drug- and alcohol-free environment. Students checked in at the cafeteria and boarded a bus to an unknown destination.
This year's celebration was held at SpacePort in Paterson, N.J. This event was chaired by Rivka Nelson and Amy Klein. It takes a year to plan this event. There are fundraisers, donations and student contributions to cover the costs.
The SpacePort staff, parent chaperones and security watched over 350 students this year. A buffet was waiting for the students and their appetites. There were may arcade games for all to enjoy on the bottom level. There was also a basketball court, a DJ and bowling. When the students needed a break, they could retreat to the yearbook room and relax. After they regained strength, they could get a message and have a tarot reader explain their cards. Paintball was also a big attraction.
