Police Blotter: A Flurry Of Vehicle Break-Ins
The following arrest information was supplied by the South Orange Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

- Lonnie Askew, a 39 year old South Orange resident, was arrested on Dec. 6 at approximately 11:43 p.m. after officers responded to a call of a suspicious person described as a black male, wearing dark clothing, in the driveway of a Longview Road residence. As an officer was responding to the scene, he observed Askew reaching into a vehicle (1995 Ford) parked in a Brentwood Drive driveway. Askew was arrested at the scene without incident and processed accordingly. He was also identified as the man seen trespassing in the driveway of the Longview Road residence which is located a short distance away.
- A South Stanley Road resident stated that sometime between 3 a.m. and 7 a.m. on Dec. 7, someone had entered her unlocked vehicle (1992 Honda). No items were reported stolen; however, a second vehicle (2000 BMW) in the driveway had approximately $100 in cash and a radar detector stolen from it. There were no signs of a forced entry.
- A Turrell Avenue resident stated that sometime between 5 a.m. and 12 p.m. on Dec. 7, someone entered his vehicle (2000 Lexus) by damaging the driver's side door lock. Once inside the vehicle, the bandit removed several items including the registration and insurance card as well as the victim's credit cards and GPS Unit.
- A Milton Place resident stated sometime between 6:30 a.m. and 6:45 p.m. on Dec, 7, someone entered his unlocked vehicle (1994 Toyota) which was parked in his driveway and removed a small amount of change from the center console area. No other items were reported stolen.
- A Milton Place resident stated that sometime between 10 a.m. and 12:40 p.m. on Dec. 7, someone entered her unlocked vehicle (1998 Mercedes) and removed a driver's license, a work identification card and a jacket which was in the back seat.
- A Walnut Court resident said that someone damaged the driver's side dock to his vehicle (2005 Nissan) by prying into it on the night of Dec. 7. The person was unable to get into the car.
