Police Blotter: Arrest Warrents, Attempted Cough Syrup Theft

The following arrest information was supplied by the South Orange Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

  • Jason Freeman, a 38 year old East Orange resident, was formally charged with burglary and theft to a vehicle for an incident from September 8, 2010.  Freeman was charged for the offense after forensic evidence recovered at the scene was ultimately linked him.  He is currently being held at the Essex County Jail in Newark on prior unrelated charges.

  • Davidson Lugo, a 32 year old Newark resident, was arrested on November 10 at approximately 3 p.m. after an officer observed him getting into a physical altercation with another person in the area of Prospect Street and South Orange Avenue.  The argument occurred as a result of a traffic argument.

  • A Riggs Place resident stated that sometime during the night of November 11, someone stole his 2000 Jeep while it was parked on the street in front of his residence.

  • A Thornden Street resident stated that on November 13 at approximately 1:45 p.m., she was having an open house and during the event, a white female, approximately 50 years of age, 5'2" in height, with brown hair and approximately 165 pounds, was caught entering the second floor of the residence and attempting to remove prescription cough syrup.  The woman fled from the scene after being discovered.

  • A woman stated that on November 13, at approximately 11 a.m., she was at the PNC ATM, located at 76 South Orange Avenue, when a black male, approximately 30 years of age, 6'1" in height and approximately 200 pounds, bumped into her after he had used the machine.  The woman stated that after the man left the area, she discovered that her Blackberry cell phone had been removed from her pocket.  The woman believes that the man had pick pocketed her when he bumped into her.
