Police Blotter: Auto Theft; Fight Outside a Bar
A vehicle was stolen while at a car wash, and the fire department put out a fire source in an unoccupied apartment.

Thursday, March 5:
- An officer on patrol in the early morning came across a street sign at Irvington Ave. and Ward Place that had been bent in half.
- A resident of a multi-family dwelling on Valley Street reported smoke rising from below his second-floor apartment around 10 p.m. Police responded to the scene, and the fire department was dispatched and opened a rear window to enter the unoccupied apartment. The source of the smoke was determined to be a wall in the bathroom, where plumbing had been done earlier in the day, possibly causing a sweating pipe to ignite material in the wall. Firefighters opened the wall and extinguished the fire source.
Friday, March 6:
- The front window and frame of a business on First Street was smashed in between 5 p.m. Thursday and just after 1:30 p.m. Friday. There appeared to be blood splattered on the glass and curtain.

- A 24-year-old man who was leaving Voro Restaurant just before 1: 30 a.m. told an officer he was approached by a man he didn't know, who started to fight with him. He refused medical treatment and didn't have any visible injuries.
Sunday, March 8:
- A woman reported her red 2008 Acura stolen while she was waiting for its cleaning to be finished at Clean Way on Irvington Avenue. It was last seen headed north on Ward Place.

- An officer on patrol in the early morning saw that the windows of a blue 2004 Audi parked in Lot 5 were open. The officer then noted that the driver's side door lock and ignition had been tampered with in an attempt to steal the car but couldn't determine at the time whether anything had been stolen.
