Police Blotter: Burglary Arrest on S. Kingman Rd.

A 19-year-old Newark resident was arrested for burglarizing a home and providing false information.

Wednesday, Sept. 30:

  • An adjunct Seton Hall professor's university-issued laptop and power cord were stolen from her unlocked office in Alfieri Hall in the early afternoon.
  • An Irving Avenue resident reported that his unlocked black 2002 Chevy Trailblazer was broken into, and a GPS unit was stolen.
  • A Harding Drive resident reported that his unlocked cars were broken into and rummaged through overnight, though nothing was taken.

Thursday, Oct. 1:

  • A Rynda Road resident reported that his unlocked gold 1999 Ford Explorer was broken into in his driveway, but nothing was taken.

  • At about 10:50 a.m., police responded to an activated burglar alarm on South Kingman Road. While checking the exterior of the home, an officer encountered a man later identified as Anthony Harper, 19, Newark, in the backyard. A check of the residence showed that someone had tried to open a rear window and attempted to push an air conditioner in through another window, which set off a silent alarm. Harper was positively identified by a witness who had seen him walking through several yards in the area. He was arrested and charged with burglary and providing false information.

Monday, Oct. 5:

  • A silver 2007 Mercedes parked in a Warwick Avenue driveway was broken into via the passenger-side window overnight. A pair of Jimmy Choo sunglasses, an iPod classic, and a pair of Juicy Couture headphones were reported stolen.
