Police Blotter: Car Burglaries in Private Driveways Continue

Early Wednesday morning, a Seton Hall student reported that a group of individuals tried to kick the door of his building in.

Tuesday, Nov. 17:

  • An unlocked 2007 Hyundai Accent parked in a Tichenor Avenue driveway was burglarized overnight, but nothing was taken.
  • An unlocked 2004 Mazda 3 parked in a Gardner Avenue driveway was burglarized overnight, and a GPS unit valued at $400 was reported stolen.
  • An unlocked 2007 Subaru Legacy parked in a Riggs Place driveway was burglarized overnight, and loose change was taken.
  • An unlocked 2004 Honda Pilot parked in a Village Road driveway was burglarized overnight, but nothing was taken.
  • An unlocked 2002 BMW SUV parked in a Scotland Road driveway was burglarized overnight, and loose change was taken.
  • Sixty-five Star-Ledger papers were stolen from in front of the Village Smoke Shop between 5:30 and 7 a.m.

Wednesday, Nov. 18:

  • At about 2 a.m., a Seton Hall student reported that a group of eight to 10 individuals approached the front door leading up to the second floor of his Valley Street building and kicked it, causing damage to its frame. He saw them scatter in different directions but was unable to provide a description.

  • A Clark Street resident reported that his 2002 Acura TL was keyed on all its body panels overnight while parked in his driveway.
