Police Blotter: Car Stolen from Municipal Lot

A Volkswagen Passat was stolen on Sunday.

Tuesday, Jan. 19:

  • A 2000 Subaru Legacy parked by the intersection of Montrose Ave. and Centre St. was broken into via a smashed passenger-side front window, and a satellite radio was taken.

Wednesday, Jan. 20:

  • A 1995 Toyota Camry parked in the Marshall School parking lot was broken into via a smashed passenger-side front window between 6:30 p.m. and 8:15 p.m., and a Coach satchel-style purse containing a driver's license and bank card was taken.

  • A man observed two black males wearing leather jackets and baseball hats entering a 2003 Dodge sedan parked on Montrose Avenue with bricks in their hands. When he confronted them, they fled north on foot. An inspection of the vehicle revealed ignition damage and open interior compartments. The owner wasn't present when the report was taken, but the car was locked and secured at that time.

Saturday, Jan. 23:

  • A man stole a bottle of Hennessy from University Liquors at about 8 p.m. after placing it on the counter as though he were about to pay for it. He then ran off with the bottle. He was described by a store employee as a black male, 5'8" with a thin build wearing a gray hoodie and jeans and approximately 22 years old.

  • A 2001 Volkswagen Passat parked in Municipal Lot 8 was stolen some time between midnight and approximately 2 p.m. The driver's side door lock was left on the ground.
