Police Blotter: Carjacking Arrest
The following arrest information was supplied by the South Orange Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

- Stephon Ford, a 20-year-old Newark resident, was arrested on October 6 and charged with carjacking and weapons possession after an extensive investigation conducted by the Detective Bureau revealed that the he had committed the offense which took place in the SOPAC parking lot on September 29 at approximately 5 a.m.. Ford was arrested by Officers at his residence in Newark without incident during the early morning hours of October 6.
- Jabbar Rice, an 18-year-old Newark resident, was arrested on October 6 for burglary and vehicle theft after an investigation conducted by the Detective Bureau revealed that he was the man responsible for the overnight burglary to a Fairview Ave. residence on September 15. During the burglary, the victim's vehicle was also stolen. The Detectives working the case were able to recover forensic evidence that ultimately lead to the subject's arrest. The subject was arrested without incident during the early morning hours of October 6 when he was located in a multi-family dwelling located on Nye Ave. in Newark.
- A North Wyoming Ave. resident stated that sometime during the overnight hours of October 5, an unknown person set fire to an American flag which was mounted to a flag pole in the front of her home.
- A Juvenile was arrested on October 7 at approximately 9 p.m. after officers, while investigating an incident on Village Plaza, observed the juvenile flee the area after being told by a uniformed Officer to halt. The juvenile lead officers on a foot pursuit through several streets and rear yards before being apprehended. The subject was processed accordingly and released to a guardian.
- Kimberly Brown, a 47-year-old East Orange resident, along with Wendy Howard, a 41-year-old Montclair resident, were arrested for shoplifting from the Pathmark supermarket after they attempted to remove over 500 hundred dollars of merchandise. The subjects were stopped in a vehicle while attempting to flee the area by a Maplewood Officer after the information of the incident was broadcast via police communications. The subjects were arrested without incident.
- An elderly victim stated that on October 8 at approximately 7:15 a.m., he was approached by a person while in front of his apartment located on Irvington Ave. and was informed by the person that he was being robbed. The robber, described as a black male approximately 20 years of age, 5-9" in height, 150 pounds, and was observed wearing a black and white checkered jacket with jeans, brandished the butt of a gun in his jacket pocket while demanding the victim's money. The victim informed the actor he had no money and the actor fled on foot east on Irvington Ave. The victim stated that while walking he had seen the actor on Village Plaza immediately prior to the incident.
- Javonn McCluney, a 23-year-old Newark resident, was arrested on October 9 at approximately 6:20 a.m. for suspicion of driving while under the influence, after an Officer stopped the above subject for a motor vehicle violation on Scotland Rd. The subject was found to be asleep at the wheel and blocking traffic with the vehicle he was operating. The subject was taken into custody without incident and processed accordingly.
