Police Blotter: Robberies, Warrent Arrests

The following arrest information was supplied by the South Orange Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

  • Hervon McNeil, a 45 year old Newark resident, was arrested on October 26 at approximately 4:35 p.m. when he was stopped for a motor vehicle violation on Irving Avenue and during the field interview it was discovered that he had several outstanding warrants issued for his arrest.  McNeil was placed under arrest without incident and processed accordingly.

  • Dillon Rose, a 22 year old South Orange resident, was arrested on October 27 at approximately 10 a.m. at a Jacoby Street residence in Maplewood, after detectives determined that he was the man that committed an armed robbery which took place in South Orange on September 24.  The subject was arrested without incident and charged with numerous criminal offenses including robbery and weapons possession.

  • Carl Drummer, a 49 year old Newark resident, was arrested for shoplifting on October 28 at 9:35 a.m.  A Seton Hall University employee observed Drummer acting suspiciously inside the university bookstore.  Drummer then left the bookstore and was attempting to leave campus when Seton Hall University Security stopped and detained Drummer until SOPD officers arrived.  It was then determined that Drummer had several bookstore items in his possession that he did not purchase.  Drummer was arrested and processed accordingly.

  • At approximately 1 a.m. on October 29, a Seton Hall University student was robbed at gunpoint by two unknown individuals while walking with a small group of friends on Ward Place just south of Wilden Place.  Victim described one of the individuals as a black male, wearing a dark colored sweatshirt and black ski mask.  The second individual is only described as a black male who pointed a dark handgun at the victim.  The others in the group ran away when they saw the two men approach and the victim himself ran when the men were distracted by his friends running away.  There were no proceeds taken from the victim.  The individuals are believed to have fled the scene in a dark-colored, four-door, compact vehicle.

  • On October 31, at approximately 8:40 p.m., an employee of Hunan Garden restaurant was robbed of an unknown amount of cash at the intersection of University Court and South Orange Avenue, as he was riding his bicycle back to the restaurant after making a delivery.  A witness stated he saw three black juvenile males assaulting the victim and when he pulled his car over to help the victim, the juveniles fled east on South Orange Avenue.  One of the juveniles is described as wearing a dark gray, hooded sweatshirt.  No further descriptions are available and a search for the juveniles was negative.  The Detective Bureau is investigating the incident.
