Police Blotter: Shoplifting at Rite Aid
One perpetrator made off with two boxes of Trojans, while the other tried to steal Aveeno moisturizer before being stopped by the store manager.
Wednesday, March 31:
- Someone tried to break into a Finley Place home by breaking a first-floor window in the back of the house, but the window was painted shut, and no entry was made into the house. The broken glass was found piled next to the window.
- A Kingman Road resident confronted a man who had broken into his wife's car parked in the driveway. The man fled east through the yards toward Stanley Road. Nothing was reported missing from the vehicle, which had been unlocked.
Friday, April 2:
- A woman in her late 30s to early 40s was spotted by a Rite Aid manager dropping store items into a blue bag on Friday evening. The manager confronted her and took the bag, and the woman fled with two men through municipal lot 5 across the street. Found in the bag were three bottles of Aveeno moisturizer from Rite Aid, as well as prescription medication made out to an East Orange address. The shoplifted goods were returned to Rite Aid, and the rest were placed in the police evidence locker.

- A man between 25 and 30 years old removed two boxes of Trojan condoms from the rack at Rite Aid and walked out without paying for them, even after a store employee confronted him. He was last seen walking south on Prospect Street. The stolen merchandise was valued at $49.98.
