Police Blotter: SHU Dorm Rooms Burglarized
Two students return from a long weekend to find their laptops stolen.
Sunday, July 5:
- A bundle of 130 Star-Ledgers valued at $260 was stolen from in front of the Village Smoke Shop between 5:30 and 7:30 a.m.
Tuesday, July 7:
- Police responded to a stove fire at a residence on Tichenor Avenue shortly after 8 a.m. The fire department extinguished the blaze, which the resident said had started when plastic kitchenware left in the oven caught fire when the gas was turned on.
- A Fairview Avenue resident reported that his bicycle—a black Cannondale—was stolen when he went out to walk his dog in the early morning. The bike had been left in his building's rear parking lot.
- A Mongoose bicycle left on the sidewalk by the intersection of South Orange Avenue & Vose Avenue was stolen shortly before 3 p.m. The thief was seen headed south on Sloan Street.

- A gray 2002 Dodge Intrepid parked in a Holland Road driveway was stolen overnight on Friday and reported missing on Saturday morning.
Sunday, July 12:
- Two Seton Hall students reported that their dorm rooms in Aquinas Hall were burglarized. Both had left campus on Thursday and returned Sunday to find that items had been taken, though there was no sign of forced entry, and they stated that the rooms had been locked. One student reported an IBM Thinkpad laptop, a biology book, an iPod and an Adidas jacket stolen, and the other—who reported the burglary on Monday—found that her Seton Hall-issued laptop had been taken.
