Police Blotter: Youths Arrested For Fighting
The following arrest information was provided by the South Orange Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

- At approximately 9:20 p.m. on Jan. 6, police responded to SOPAC after residents saw two juveniles fighting. A large crowd had to be dispersed by officers from three different agencies. The juveniles received minor injuries as a result and the matter is being actively investigated by the Detective Bureau.
- , a Grove Terrace homeowner said that between Dec. 29 and Jan. 7, someone entered a home, which is currently for sale and only accessible to realtors, and removed copper piping from the basement, as well as five antique fixtures. The person may have broken in through an unlocked first floor window.
- On Jan. 7, at approximately 10 p.m., four juveniles were arrested and three others were brought into police headquarters for protective custody after officers responded to Sloan Street and found a large number of teens acting disorderly in the area. While dispersing the crowd, some of the teens became combative with the officers by blocking passages and refusing to disperse. After several attempts were made by the officers to calm the crowd, the disruptive teens that failed to comply were taken into custody.
- A 12 year old resident was arrested for assault on Jan. 7, at approximately 11:15 p.m., after she struck another female in the face while at SOPAC. Officers were on scene due to the large gathering in the area and witnessed the assault.
- The owner of Sparkhouse Toys, said that on Jan. 9, at approximately 11:30 p.m., she was in the store and heard someone attempting to open the front door. She said that she saw the person and described him as a black male, middle aged, with rimmed glasses, heavy set, approximately 5'7" in height, clean shaved and wearing a brown jacket. He tried to reach through the mail slot and remove the keys that were still in the interior lock. The owner yelled at the man and he fled through the alleyway between the buildings. Officers were unable to find the man.
