Police Reports: Attempted Auto Thefts

Break-ins to unlocked cars in private driveways continue.

Monday, Oct. 19:

  • Two 21-speed Bianchi bicycles were reported stolen from a Highland Road garage during the previous week.

Tuesday, Oct. 20:

  • A black 2007 Nissan Xterra parked at a Mountain House Road residence was burglarized overnight, and a GPS unit and green winter jacket were taken. The owner believes the door may have been left unlocked.

  • An unlocked silver 2001 Honda parked in a Meeker Street driveway was broken into overnight, and $15 was taken.

Friday, Oct. 23:

  • An unlocked silver 2004 Chrysler Town & Country parked in a Great Hills Drive driveway was broken into overnight. The ignition was ripped out in an attempted auto theft, but nothing was taken.
  • An unlocked blue 2006 Chrysler Town & Country parked in a West Third Street driveway was broken into overnight. The ignition was ripped out in an attempted auto theft.

  • An unlocked blue 1998 Volvo V70 parked in a Hillside Place driveway was burglarized overnight, and loose change was taken. Police pursued suspects to the West Orange border.
  • Perpetrators attempted to break into a green 1992 Honda Accord parked in a Montague Place driveway by damaging the driver's side door lock.
