“Princess Bride” To Close South Orange Summer Movie Series

SOUTH ORANGE, NJ — South Orange residents can spend Wednesday evening dancing and watching a beloved adventure unfold under the stars as the village closes its summer movie series with “The Princess Bride.”

The free Summer Movie & Dance Party will run from 7 to 10 p.m. at Flood’s Hill in Meadowland Park, near North Ridgewood Road and Mead Street.

The evening will begin at 7 p.m. with a Family Jam Dance Party led by DJ Lou Smith. The village is inviting children and their grown-ups to “get your wiggles out” before the film starts at dusk, around 8 p.m.

Families and friends are encouraged to bring blankets, lawn chairs and plenty of “summer-night vibes” before settling in for the 1987 fairy-tale adventure, known for its mix of comedy, romance and swordplay.

“There’s nothing quite like watching a movie under the stars,” the village said in its event announcement.

Wednesday’s screening wraps up a three-week series that also featured “Zootopia 2” and “The Goonies.”

The movie nights are part of South Orange Summer Nights, presented by South Orange Recreation and Cultural Affairs, the South Orange Performing Arts Center and the Meadowland Park Conservancy.

The village recommends checking for updates before heading to the park, particularly if the weather looks uncertain.
