Comcast Offers Free Wi-Fi at South Orange Rail Station

Cable company launches trial program with free wireless service for its commuting customers

Comcast cable launched a test on Friday of free wireless service to its customers at more than 100 New Jersey transit rail stations, including South Orange.

What's not clear is how far away from the train station the service will work. Comcast advertises the service as allowing commuters to check e-mail from the train platform, "surf the Internet from a restaurant" and "shop online while relaxing in a park."

If anyone has tried the service, please send us an e-mail and let us know how easy it is to connect and how well it works, particularly outside the train station. (Check e-mail on an iPod Touch from Bunny's?)
