Just before 8 a.m., Thursday, the South Orange Fire Department responded to 342 South Ridgewood Road , where fire alarms were sounding. Upon arrival firefighters found a smoke condition on the first floor and the basement levels.
Firefighters discovered the source of the fire in a basement storage area. The fire was quickly brought under control and extinguished. The burnt materials were brought to outside.
The cause of the fire was determined to be combustibles stored to close to a heat source. The fire has been ruled accidental.
