UPDATED: Riggs Place Robbery at Gunpoint

SHU issued an alert about a robbery that took place on Riggs Place on Wednesday evening.

Police are looking for two men who robbed and assaulted two Seton Hall University students walking on Riggs Place Wednesday evening.

 The students said they were walking on Gardner Place at 7:50 p.m. when they noticed they were being followed by two African-American men. As the students crossed the street to travel south on Riggs Place, the robbers caught up with them and demanded the items, while brandishing a small black semi-automatic handgun.

The students were robbed of some personal belongings and knocked to the ground by the two men, who then fled on foot.

The thieves are described as two dark-skinned black men, 17-19 years old. One man was described as being approximately 5-foot, 10-inches tall with a medium build with a scar or mark on both cheeks and a cap between his teeth.

The second man was described as approximately 5-foot, 11-inches tall with a slim build. Both men were wearing dark-colored puffy jackets and skull caps.

Seton Hall cautioned people to stay away from that area last night and to contact security or the South Orange Police Department with information.
