
SOUTH ORANGE, NJ - A pair of samurai swords were stolen from a Berkley Avenue home sometime between Sunday, Sept. 16 and Monday, Sept. 17, according to police. The owner reported that someone entered his home through a side door and removed several pieces of jewelry, audio visual equipment and the two decorative swords.
- The Berkley Avenue report was one of several thefts reported in September as South Orange Police also received a report of stolen bicycles on Wednesday, Sept. 19. According to a Meadowbrook Lane resident sometime between 10 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 18 and Wednesday, Sept. 19 someone pried open the lock on his shed and removed a women's gray and pink Diamondback brand mountain bike as well as a men's blue and gray Trek brand mountain bike.
- A few days before the bike theft, police received a report from a Arnold Terrace resident who said that his vehicle was broken into. Sometime between Thursday, Sept. 13 and Friday, Sept. 14 police were told the vehicle was rummaged through and a backpack with a Mac Air Pro laptop and personal items were stolen.
- Electronics were stolen from an apartment on Prospect Street between 9 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 4 and 12:40 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 5 police said. According to a resident, someone entered his apartment and stole several personal electronic items, two laptop computers and a camera.
- To start off the month a South Orange resident reported to police that sometime between 4 p.m. and 11 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 1 someone stole his blue Diamond Back mountain bike which he had left locked and secured to the bicycle rack at the South Orange Train Station.
