Creative Musicianship

10am-4pm Saturday July 18th ages 8 and up, $80

MAKE SOME NOISE! Explore the creative possibilities of music through sound-making activities and group composing led by composers Jessie Downs and Doug Farrand. Through learning by doing, students will gain a physical under- standing of how to use sound colours, rhythm, pitch, and other structures to turn their ideas, feelings, images, and stories into music. Lunch will be provided.

Anti-Design School (Designing Logos, Icons, and Marks)

10am-4pm Sunday July 19th, $80

Learn how to MAKE AND BREAK THE RULES of Graphic Design with Artist / Designer William Zoe Fitzgerald. Classes will teach design theory, hand drawing processes and techniques for making Graphic elements. While exploring the use of single color vectors on different media, students will gain strong design skills and the knowledge of when to follow grids and theory or when to play to develop and explore your own design style. Lunch will be provided.

The Art of the “Selfie” Portrait (Self-portraiture and technology)

11am-1pm and 2pm-4pm Saturday July 18th. Ages 8-14, $40

SELFIE TIME! With the popularity of camera phones, it now seems that the age-old tradition of making self portraits is more widespread than ever before. Photographer Naeema Campbell helps students to ask and answer questions about this every-day art, such as why we make “selfies,” what messages we can send with them, and how we can use the tools and skills we have to make pictures that are as unique as ourselves.
