Seat Belt Enforcement Cranked Up for National Campaign

The national "Click it or Ticket" campaign runs from Monday through May 31.

South Orange police will participate in the nation-wide "Click it or Ticket" campaign, which is meant to crack down on unbuckled motorists and runs from Monday through May 31.

According to Police Chief Jim Chelel, the department got a $4,000 grant from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and will set up seat belt enforcement checkpoints at various locations starting on Tuesday—including one on South Orange Avenue near Seton Hall.

Last year in New Jersey, 473 police agencies participated.
