Seth Boyden Artists Honored for their Work

Students from in Maplewood were honored last week for participating in the Art Educators of New Jersey Student Art Exhibit at the Essex County Hall of Records.

Students from throughout Essex County were recognized at a reception in the Hall of Records after their art work was shown on display in the county building during the month of March.

Each year, Essex County - led by Executive Joseph N. DiVincenzo Jr. - invites students to submit art work for display. The young artists display everything from pencil sketches, to oil paintings. The chosen art work lines the walls of the first floor lobby.

“Essex County has some very creative and talented student artists at all age levels from elementary to high school. The original artwork that is included in our exhibit is truly inspiring,” DiVincenzo said. “I am proud to partner with the Art Educators of New Jersey to present this beautiful exhibit. This is an opportunity to promote our students’ positive achievements and enables the general public to see the talent in our schools."

Students and representatives from their schools - in many cases the art teachers, principals, and even their parents - attended the reception where each school and student was individually recognized.

 “This is a wonderful observance to emphasize the value of art education for children of all ages and encourage support for art programs in our public schools,” said Marion Resciniti, Chairwoman of the 2012 New Jersey Art Educators of New Jersey Essex County Exhibit.

This year’s show featured original works of art created by 101 students from who ranged in age from elementary school to high school level. The students came from 26 different Essex County schools.

Students attending the ceremony were, from left, Amelia Heinze, Bernadette Clawson and Ella Opdenberg. Essex County Executive Joseph N. DiVincenzo, Jr. congratulated the students, along with New Jersey Art Educators Exhibit Chairwoman Marion Resciniti and Art Teacher Judy Elman. The artwork was on display for the month of March.
