Seton Hall Student Dies After Fall From Parking Deck: UPDATED
A student at Seton Hall University in South Orange died after falling from a parking deck on Sept. 11, authorities said

SOUTH ORANGE, NJ — A student at Seton Hall University in South Orange died after falling from a parking deck on Tuesday, Sept. 11, authorities said.
Seton Hall administrators originally reported that a student fell from a parking deck and sustained “serious injuries.” The South Orange Police Department released the following update about the incident on Tuesday afternoon:
“On September 11, at approximately 12:15 p.m., South Orange police officers responded to a 9-1-1 call stating that an individual had fallen from the roof of the parking deck located on the campus of Seton Hall University. Upon arrival officers discovered a male victim laying on the grass median adjacent to the parking deck’s vehicular exit. The victim, later determined to be a 23-year-old student of Seton Hall University, had sustained life-threatening injuries. The victim was treated at the scene by emergency personnel and transported to University Hospital in Newark where he was pronounced dead at 1:12 p.m.”
The cause of death will be determined pending the results of an autopsy from the Medical Examiner’s Office, South Orange police stated.

“At this time, the preliminary investigation reveals no evidence of foul play, however, the incident is continuing to be investigated by detectives,” Chief Kyle Kroll said.

On Tuesday evening, Seton Hall administrators identified the deceased student as Julian M. Mislavsky, a senior from Morristown.
“We will have a memorial service on campus, but until the arrangements can be finalized, I ask you again to remember Julian and his family and friends in your prayers,” Seton Hall University Interim President Mary Meehan said.
Meehan wrote a letter to the school community on Tuesday about the tragic loss:
“I write to you with great sadness to inform you that one of our students died earlier today as a result of a fall from the parking deck on the South Orange campus. Out of respect for his family and loved ones, we will not release further details about this incident until all of his family have been notified. No family member or loved one should ever have to receive news of this nature, and they will need our love and support in the coming days. During this difficult period, I urge all of us to take care of one another and offer your support as needed. Let us offer our prayers for this young man, his family and loved ones, and all those affected by tragic loss.”
Meehan said that the university offers counseling and support services to the campus community 24/7 for those who have been impacted by this loss or who are facing difficulties: 973-761-9500 (weekdays from 9 am – 5 pm), or 973-761-9300 (after hours through Public Safety).
